Water Resource Management and Women’s Empowerment Project

Project in Brief - This project intends to provide water resources in improve the access to potable water for marginalized communities in the diocese of Kurunegala Sri Lanka, and to provide training in good hygience practices and to enhance the capacity of vulnerable women in the communities to manage the water resources, thereby raising their levels of empowerment and control over resources. Through mobilization for collective actions of groups of women in different communities, the project will also contribute to peace building and reconciliation between the communities. Ten (10) villages in 04 AGA divisions have been identified as the most affected and more than 745 direct beneficiaries in these villages have benefitted from 10 dug wells with safe drinking water and training on water management, health and hygiene.
